Ms. De Lagrave
I have always thought it was unfair to get to know so much about my students and them know so little about me. So, I have decided to change that. This classroom will read like an open book, so here are a few things that I wanted to share about myself.
I grew up in Latin America and was able to fluently speak in 3 languages by the time I was 8. Sadly, I am only fluent in 2 of those now, English and Spanish, but I still maintain a very basic understanding of Portuguese. I come from a very large and close family that all live in San Diego, CA. They including my 3 nieces (9,7, and 1) and 2 nephews (12 and 8). There are 15 of us as of right now! This makes for a lot of crazy, hectic, and FUN holidays!
I have two cats, Sakura and Kiryoku, and a gold fish named Otis. I love to laugh, listen to music, take pictures, make things with my hands, cook, and run. Oh, and I LOVE to read.
I graduated from San Diego State University in 2005 with a degree in Sociology. I spent a lot of time after College traveling the world. I have so far been to 10 different countries without plans of stopping anytime soon! I spent 5 years managing a venue that housed very large events in San Diego while I worked on a career as a Photographer.
In 2010, I packed up my two cats and moved to Portland, Oregon, with a vision of becoming a part time artist and a full time teacher. I have spent the last few years getting to know and love Oregon, fine tuning my skills, (I have been known to make hair accessories, take photographs, create mixed media paintings, and other general craftiness) and am currently attending Concordia University in pursuit of a Masters in Teaching.
I have been a natural teacher since the time I was a kid, in fact, when I mentioned to my family that I was going to go back to school to become a teacher, the first thing my mom said was, "Well finally! We have known you would be a teacher from the time you were 7, we have just been waiting for you to realize it!" Well, as usual, Mom was right. The first time I stepped foot in a classroom, I knew that there was no turning back. I am incredibly passionate about learning and teaching and I cannot wait to share that passion with your students. Learning is a journey, and I cannot wait to be your children's guide.
